It’s Friday, meaning it’s time to get serious & dig into some names worthy of a pickup in your FAAB runs this weekend. Whether you gauge it by hottest bat of the week, 2 good starts, or just someone to get me by until so-and-so is healthy it can be a make or break moment.
Here’s 3 names to kick off your search to inject some life into your fantasy baseball squads from the Front Office Writing Staff:
OF – Stephen Piscotty – 30% Owned ESPN

The former St. Louis Cardinal has been playing very well for the Oakland Athletics after being traded this offseason. In his last 7 games he has hit 4 home runs and brought his season total up to 11 homers with 43 RBI. He has been batting 6th or lower in the lineup for most of his games, but with that many RBI and how Oakland has been playing, he may be moved up in the lineup. Definitely a guy to consider as the season goes forward.
2B/SS – Ketel Marte – 27% Owned ESPN
Since May 28th (arbitrary endpoint alert), Ketel Marte is batting .287/.354/.597. The hits have come in all varieties during that time. He’s got the doubles (11), he’s got the homers (7), and he’s even got the triples (4)! The increased production is supported by a boost to his hard hit rate (36.2% from 28.2% in 2017) and a xWOBA practically identical to his wOBA (.393 vs. .392, respectively). He is a guilt free bench bat. That is, he plays multiple positions, you don’t mind sitting him, and offers good production when called upon.
RP – Lou Trivino – 18% Owned ESPN
This 6’ 5” large man is just one of the rookie revelations to come out of this Oakland bullpen in 2018. Treinen has collected most of the spotlight, rightly so with his mesmerizing pitch movement & sparkling stat lines, but Trivino is right there as well. Being only a Rookie has had little mental effect on him, but he’s been a major reason why Oakland is on their little hot streak the last month. Trivino is the nasty setup man to Treinen & fills in for him when he’s overworked, snagging a Save last night.
Pick him up to help with your ratios, snake some W’s, plus benefit from the numerous Holds & occasional Save, but you’ll want to have him rostered soon with the deadline approaching, never know what the Athletics may do with Treinen as he could be on the move.
