It’s Friday, meaning it’s time to get serious & dig into some names worthy of a pickup in your FAAB runs this weekend. Whether you gauge it by hottest bat of the week, 2 good starts, or just someone to get me by until so-and-so is healthy it can be a make or break moment.

Tyler Glasnow – SP – 12% Owned
It’s easy to forget that Tyler Glasnow is only 24 years old because the fantasy community has been awed by his stuff for a small eternity. While in Pittsburgh, he consistently dominated AAA but couldn’t keep his control while in the majors. This season, he was relegated to a role as a reliever. A move that has helped reign in other wild hurlers. In that role he accumulated 72 strikeouts and 34 walks across 56.0 innings to a 4.34 ERA (3.62 FIP).
Now in Tampa Bay as partial compensation for Chris Archer, Glasnow is being stretched back out into a starter. In his first two mini starts, Glasnow put together a line of 7.0 IP 14 K 1 BB 4 H 2 ER. The most encouraging part is the walks.
A look under hood on his season shows a somewhat mixed bag. Glasnow has made considerable improvements in his ability to make bats miss. His K% keeps climbing (32.1%) as his SwSt (12.1%) and contact rates (71.3%) are strong. Concerns are still rooted in his spotty control that remains consistent with his past profile, and a hard hit percentage that is trending upwards. These need to be monitored.
Still, with his starter status restored and fresh start, he should be considered in all formats particularly those with a keeper element (if he’s even available). You’ll want to be invested if Glasnow has finally figured it out.
Aledmys Diaz – SS – 15% Owned
Thin in the Middle Infield? Don’t overlook Aledmys Diaz north of the border in Toronto. Not a sexy pick by any means, but a serviceable fill in during a DL stint, or longer, if needed. His .264 AVG is ok, but over the last 15 days he’s swinging a hot bat holding a .381 OBP, 10 Runs scored, 5 HRs, 7 RBI, & 2 SB.
Ryan Borucki – SP – 12% Owned
Borucki came up as an interesting prospect, a funky delivery, and has started chalking up solid starts at the major league level (@SEA: 8 IP, 0 ER, 2 K). Not a big K machine, his 32:14 K:BB ratio is serviceable, but he’s managed to keep things in check holding a 2.81 ERA in 48 IP. Keep an eye on him in deeper leagues, hope the offense ticks up to help support him.
