It’s Friday, meaning it’s time to get serious & dig into some names worthy of a pickup in your FAAB runs this weekend. Whether you gauge it by hottest bat of the week, 2 good starts, or just someone to get me by until so-and-so is healthy it can be a make or break moment.
Here’s 4+ Players to kick off your search to inject some life into your fantasy baseball squads from the Front Office Writing Staff (ESPN % Owned):
Danny Santana – 2B – 26% Owned

At just over 26% ownership in ESPN, Santana is a steal in many leagues still. He has a .404 OBP, 3 HR, 3 SB, 8 RBI, and 11 Runs in the last 15 days. He’s both 2B & OF elgible, ride the hot streak and slot him in your lineups as he’s got everyday ABs lined up for the foreseeable future.
Michael Chavis – 2B/3B – 18% Owned

Highly touted Boston Prospect, Michael Chavis, finally cracked the major league roster, albeit as a second baseman (who saw that coming?!), and is producing like a top prospect in the bigs: .426 OBP, 2 SB, 3 HR, and 16 RBI+R. His bat is showing he’s here to stay, hopefully the glove stays manageable. Currently only 3B eligible, but should gain 2B/MI eligibility in most places this weekend making your roster options with him all the more plentiful.
Matt Strahm – SP – 26% Owned

Since his season debut versus Arizona, Strahm hasn’t allowed more than 2 ER a game in the subsequent 5 starts. The 27 year old’s 3.03 ERA & 1.10 WHIP are both on their was down, as he’s thrown 4 straight games without a walk (zoinks, pretty sure I just jinxed him 😬). He’s averaging just 20% K rate, which isn’t sexy, but seems like he’s a ratio machine to help stabilize your team ERA/WHIP while producing solid stats across the board.
Additional Guys to Watch

A few additional names to have on your radar who aren’t super sexy picks, but they are turning their seasons around, are Kyle Gibson & Luke Weaver. Owned in 31% & 27% of ESPN Leagues respectively, they’ll be waiver streamers for most the next couple weeks till they approach that 50% ownership mark. Chris Bassitt is on the watchlist as well, turning some heads and only 16% owned. Over the last 15 days:
- Gibson pitches tonight vs NYY, in NY: 13.0 IP (2 Starts), 12 K, 3 ER, 0 BB, 2.08 ERA/0.62 WHIP
- Weaver had a blustery day at Wrigley included here: 15.2 IP (3 Starts), 21 K, 4 ER, 3 BB, 2.30 ERA/1.21 WHIP
- Bassitt: 12.0 IP (2 Starts), 16 K, 1 ER, 4 BB, 0.75 ERA/0.75 WHIP
